Watertown Lyric Theater Scholarship Program

Watertown Lyric Theater is proud to support our community by offering scholarships to further education in the performing arts. The application deadline is May 22 each year.  We will accept applications earlier for summer programs with earlier start dates, just email us and let us know the particulars of your situation.

Summer Program Scholarship and Criteria

Up to four (4) scholarships are available for non-Lyric Theater sponsored summer theater programs, music camps, workshops, or arts-oriented learning programs. Please submit an email with your information/resume, all the particulars of the program, your need, a description of your experience with Lyric and other arts programming and the amount you are requesting.

College Scholarship Description and Criteria

We offer six (6) annual scholarships for higher education. Funding amounts will vary depending on the returns from Lyric's annual productions, sponsorship and fundraising efforts. These scholarships are for higher education, for those pursuing a career in music, theater, acting, directing, technical support, music education or other aspects of the performing arts. Preference will be given to those who have performed with our company in the past but all applicants are welcome.

What do I need to submit?

  1. Completed scholarship application or written request (summer program)
  2. Your resume
  3. A copy of your high school or college transcript
  4. A minimum of two (2) paragraphs/a maximum of a one-page description of your experience with Watertown Lyric Theater and other performing arts organizations/companies (include why you want to pursue a career in the arts and any special circumstances which may influence the committee's decision)

Submit your application with all attachments by May 22, 2020 via email (no postal mail will be accepted) 

The Watertown Lyric Theater Scholarship Committee will then review the applications and contact applicants.  Scholarship recipients are invited to Lyric’s June 23 board meeting for the presentation of the scholarship and are asked to share their talent at that time.
